Paul Barrett

Paul first entered the world of estate agency in 1970 when he joined a local Amersham firm as a junior negotiator.

Having worked for a number of years Paul returned to a 3 year full time study course at Bristol Polytechnic where he gained a Diploma in Valuation & Estate Management leading to admission to The Royal Institution Of Chartered Surveyors.

On leaving Bristol Paul worked first in residential agency before moving to London’s West End where he worked for a commercial agency in Grosvenor Street. His work in London included shop and office sales and lettings and property acquisitions.

In 1980 Paul returned to his former employer as a residential agency office manager in Prestwood. He remained with the same company until December 1985 when he left to start Hydegate Estates.

Marie Barrett

Marie grew up learning about property management from her father who managed a large portfolio of residential houses and flats in Bristol.

Following completion of her A levels she progressed to Bristol Polytechnic and studied for a Diploma in Housing Management leading to Membership of the Chartered Institute of Housing.

On leaving Bristol in 1977 Marie went to work for the Church Commissioners managing property in Waterloo before leaving to join British Airways Housing Association in Staines. She rejoined the Church Commissioners a year later and spent another year managing an estate in Brixton.

She then moved to Dacorum Borough Council where she was a Housing Manager in Berkhamsted. Marie joined Paul at Hydegate Estates in January 1990.
